Narayan Murthy doesn’t want to be President

In an interview with CNN-IBN, Narayan Murthy, the chief mentor and founder of Infosys, stated that he was not interested in becoming the president.

Considering we’ve had a rocket scientist as our president for the last five years, I doubt if making such distinguished people as our presidents would really help. For the last five years, Dr. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, has led the country as the president, but other than giving moral support to the masses, has not really been able to help us much.

Maybe if Mr Narayan Murthy became the president, he would too, be put in a situation where you can see the country detiriorating, yet you are unable to do much.

The president’s cannot help India. We need Prime Ministers who can stand up for themselves.

Last year when I heard about LokParitran, the political party started by a few IIT’ians, I hoped that they would bring some good news, but they ran away within three months.
