FeedBurner’s Dick Costolo writes in his latest post about the lessons from the previous companies which can be used in the new ones. He argues that most of the lessons learnt from the previous endeavor are limited to the last company itself, as in they would be most useful if you started the last company again.
But of course, not all lessons are useless when you start out again. Here is the three main lessons he thinks should be remembered.
- At some point in the company’s first two years, the executive team needs to become passionate about revenue.
- It’s much easier to KEEP spending under control than it is to GET spending under control.
- Focus on Goals, not competitors
Dick’s Blog ‘Ask The Wizard’ is one of the best resources for entrepreneurs on the internet. Of course there is the much loved Guy Kawasaki who is trying to change the world, but Dick’s Blog is in a class of it’s own, and documents content which cannot be found anywhere else on the internet.
If you are an entrepreneur, run over to his blog and read everything that there. Everything.
