NGCoders announces that after three weeks of coding he has finally launched IndiaTVSchedule.com. ITVS is a TV listing site, which which not only provides the Daily TV Listing but also aggregates information and video content from other sites.
The site lists the most popular TV channels and shows what is on at this particular time, along with a rating of the particular movie. The channels visible on the front screen can be altered by the users to suit their needs.
I really like the idea of getting the movie rankings along with the schedule. This makes it even better than the Star Movies or the HBO website. However, I am not sure where does he get those ratings from. I sincerely hope they are from IMDB.
The blog says that there might be some bugs but they should get sorted out soon. The design is great, and so is the usability. In general, the lesser the number of times I need to click on the website, the better I feel it is. Most people that I know, like me, are clickophobic. You ask them to register and they just shy away. Especially so in India. People are very keyboard and mouse shy. It really helps if you can get all the information up on the main page without doing anything except typing the addresss.
An emailing feature would be great - A daily digest of all the movies and their ratings for say any two channels, and the mail should be dropped before 9, so that when I wake up I know what’s the treat today.
If not that, another great feature would be RSS feeds. RSS would be a little tricky, but I think this should be a good idea - every channel would have a separate feed, and each post would contain the shows for say the next 12 hours. So every time the show is over, the feed needs to be updated. But ofcourse I haven’t even though about the programming manifestations of these ideas.
So if you’re a housewife, or working-from-home guy like me, or a student, or on leave, and the television is your best friend, head over to IndiaTVSchedule. And do let me know what you think.
