Some months back I had created Pandora Smuggler, which ripped songs off Pandora.com. It got linked by lifehacker.com and within six hours I had received over 7000 hits. Within two days Pandora.com, the most amazing internet radio I have ever heard, fixed the bug I was using to download songs off their servers.
A lot of people still ask me if they can download songs from Pandora. The process is a little more difficult that using Pandora Smuggler, but it works.
This is what you need to do:
1. Download Audacity for your operating system.
2. Install Audacity
3. On the menu bar, choose View -> Float Mixer Toolbar
4. In the toolbar, choose ‘Wave Out’ or ‘Stereo Mix’ as the input source.
5. In the recording device, choose the name of your sound card.
6. Start playing the song, jump back to Audacity and press ‘R’ to start recording.
7. As soon as the song completes, click spacebar to stop recording.
8. That’s it you have downloaded one song. Use the last two steps to record all the songs you need.
9. Finally, select Choose File -> Export Multiple.
10. In the new view, choose MP3 to export songs as MP3. Do make sure you have LAME3, which is used to encode songs in MP3.
11. That’s it. You’re done.

This solution is too much complicated, you could do it the same way but easier with the Acoustica softwares like Mixcraft (find it at http://www.sharestation.com).
But the best way stays the “Live HTTP Header” Firefox extension to do exactly the same job as Pandora Downloader (just without the names). If you’re already a Firefox user, the best way is to install a clean Firefox portable edition with this extension installed. It will only monitor the Pandora site and not the sites open in some other tabs…
Special new version here (updated by me) : http://livehttpheaders.mozdev.org/suggestions.html#c390
or download it directly here :

Have fun !
Note to the developers : if this simple extension allows us to do it manually, why can’t you do it automatically. I really regret to don’t be a dev because I guess it would be not so difficult to adapt your old Pandora Downloader even if we would have to rename the songs manually in your soft. What is slowing your progress ? I know some cool devs at my forum, could they help you and do the things that you have not enough time to do ? Could you share the sources in this case ? Thanks…
