Reliance Entertainment has launched it’s first social networking portal. ‘Big Adda’, which had been running a series of polls over the last month or so, has finally decided what logos to use and the site has finally gone live.
You can upload photos, videos, and start your own blogs. Entry is restricted, you can only get in after you get an invite. Even Chintee.com, another blog owned by Reliance Industries redirects to BigAdda. The footer says explicitly

, so that we don’t get confused about what it really is.
Loads of people have already logged on and started writing on the blogs. And I sit here and wonder if that many people are interested in writing, why don’t we see more comments in the Indian Blogosphere.
Going by the amount of money Reliance has, they really wouldn’t mind recruiting fifty ’software engineers’ to start filling up the site. But I’m sure that’s not the case. Now with another social networking site opening up, I can meet the same people over and over at all these different places.
I don’t have a clue about BigAdda’s plans, but are they really hoping to be the #1 company in the social networking arena? You know what that means - Taking on Google.
UPDATE: Zaid fills us in on a few bloopers on the Yaari.com site. Link.
I just don’t get it. Why are our websites so sad?
