I start this edition of Link Sutra with a pointer to a post talking about a customer-oriented, critical-thinking, bootstrapping entrepreneur. The kinds you meet everyday. Or Not. (link)

Yes, it is about the sabzi wala, who has a huge possible customer base, but limited resources, devoid of manpower, with a miniscule market share, yet not without reason and understanding of his own market. And you thought good business people came out of IIM Ahmedabad…

Anyways, looking at the way IIMB figures out which people to take in, I have the feeling that there is a huge software system which turns people into ‘objects’ with varying ‘properties’. And then there is a huge function pointer which decide who to ‘call’. Unluckily, I got a missed call from the IIMs last time, so this time I’m on to something better.

So if you have the reason, maybe you should get over that job of yours and start looking for the next big idea. Afterall, even Naukri.com with it’s disbelief in Web 2.0 and shoddy looking interface (but cool RSS feeds, which Ibibo’s Bixee.com hijacks to show on its own site) has made a profit of Rs 46.5 crore ($11.6 million) in the first quarter. I’m sure you’re saner and smarter, and therefore can do better (though some say that’s myth too).

Now moving over to some Tech banter.

Microsoft has released the first version of SilverLight, which they say is going to rule the world in the years to come.

Another link, which I would like to suggest is this. The ‘Web 2.0 Starter Toolkit for DB2′ by IBM, which allows quick creation of DB2 Web services and feeds using PHP technology. It has been created by Leon Katsnelson, who has worked for IBM for over 21 years. The other team members include Leons Petrazickis, Chris Gruber and Rizwan Tejpar.

Update: The silverlight link was wrong, thanks to Badsra for the tip

    Informative post.

There’s a malformed link for ’silverlight’. I was able to make out the actual link, posted here.
