Bill Gates pays a visit to Eko.co.in

The first time I had heard of Eko, I couldn’t resist the temptation to drop an email to its founders and ask if I could do anything for them. The moment you read up about what they are doing, you just want to be a part of it. (Though I never really made their website)

I have been following Anupam’s Blog ever since I read about them, and every once in a while he puts in a real gem there. But today he has got some really big news there.

In a world where startups participate in reality-show-like competitions to get publicity, here is one startup who is really doing things the right way.

LiveMint has a post about it too where they seem to get everything wrong. The title goes something like ‘Gates pays low-key visit to tech start-up pilot project‘ and then they talk about everything which nobody really gives a sh** about. For the record, Eko is not a tech pilot project, it is way beyond it. But we wouldn’t trust pen-totting journalists to get that before they make a million dollars in revenue.

Everything that you need to know about them is in this Shah-Rukh-Khan-style Main-Hoon-Na cartoon, which would have made it to presentation zen, had it not been in Hindi.

Anyways, even though I’m sure you know about it already, but here is it once again. Bill Gates paid a personal visit to our heroes from Eko in Uttam Nagar in Delhi.

Here is what Anupam writes

Bill Gates came across as a keen listener, sharp thinker, avid note-taker and someone who asked just the right questions. It is always a pleasure interacting with someone who just needs the bullet points and obvious sub-points never need to be stated :) . To be honest, not many people in high positions to whom we have spoken to (or tried to speak to) were as down-to-earth and even a fraction as sharp as he was. In fact, most ‘top’ guys would rather send their subordinates for a visit rather than take the pain and time for visiting a place like this.

He even took time to visit ‘Gupta Medicos’ a shop which used be an ‘Eko Relationship Center’ to hear first-hand what they felt about Eko.

I think I ought to learn from Anupam about how to be so cool when something like this happens!!

Sudhanshu,

Trust me, it took a long time for the effect of the visit to sink in. Thats what happens when you’re kinda caught off-guard ;) .

Regards,
Anupam
